Rabbi Natan Neta Hanover Rabbi Natan was a survivor of the decrees of Tach ve'Tat (5408-5409; 1648-1649, the Chmelnitzki Massacres) when 100,000 Jews in Poland were massacred. In his book 'Yavan Metzulah' he described all the horrors and sufferings of the Jews during those 2 years. He was a student of Rabbi Shmuel Eliezer Edels , the MaHarSha (1555-1631). He served as the head of the Jewish court in Liverno (Italy), from there he continued to Romania and became a rabbi in Yasi and Fokashni. He later continued on to Ungrish-Brod we he served as a Darshan (expositor of Torah lessons). When the Turks besieged the city of Vienna, the Hungarians rebelled against the Austrians and destroyed the city of Ungrish-Brod. They killed all the Jews that were present in the synagogue, among them was Rabbi Natan Neta. May the merit of the tzaddik Rabbi Natan Neta Hanover protect us all, Amen. |
