Rabbi
Nachman of Haradanka
Born:
?
Died: 1765
Rabbi
Nachman of Haradanka was a descendant of the famous Maharal of
Prague.
He
was a close disciple of the Baal Shem Tov. Rabbi Simcha, the son of Rabbi
Nachman
married the righteous Marat
Feiga,
the grand daughter of the Baal
Shem Tov, and the sister of Rabbi
Moshe Chaim Efraim of Sadilkov and Rabbi
Baruch of Medzibosh. Rabbi Simcha was the father of
Rabbi Nachman of
Breslov.
The Baal Shem Tov loved and admired Rabbi Nachman of Haradanka very much.
Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz, another disciple of The Baal Shem Tov, praised
him a
lot for being a great holy man and claimed that as long as Rabbi Nachman was
in Poland, the Russians were not able to enter Poland and fight them. On the
day that Rabbi Nachman left for a trip to Israel, the Russians entered Poland.
Rabbi Nachman of Haradanka was known for his powerful prayers and strong,
"like iron" Emunah (belief in God).
A testimony to his greatness was Rabbi
Elazar Rokach who went to live in
Israel. One of his major goals was to meet Rabbi Nachman of Haradanka in
Israel. Rabbi Elazar's hope was that together with Rabbi Nachman, he could
hasten the
Redemption.
However, upon his arrival in Israel Rabbi Elazar discovered that Rabbi
Nachman had recently returned back to Europe. When Rabbi Nachman heard
of
Rabbi Elazar's arrival in Israel, he hurried back to Israel. But by the
time
Rabbi Nachman made it back to Israel, Rabbi Elazar had already passed away
from the world.
May the merit of the tzaddik Rabbi
Nachman of Haradanka
protect us all, Amen!
