יְקוָק is my shepherd

Parashat Bo (Exodus 10:1) has the last three plagues Locusts, Darkness and killing of the first born.

The process of ten plagues was forced on Pharaoh by God in order to reveal Zeir Anpin. The Torah tells us directly that God “hardened” Pharaoh’s heart so that he wouldn’t let go of the Israelites. He didn’t have a choice. He had to suffer all the way until his first born was killed in the last plague.

God’s plan was to install the spiritual system called Zeir Anpin, through the revelation of the Torah on Mount Sinai. Prior to that, the world could easily enjoy direct light and fulfillment of the left column.

With the revelation of Z”A came the laws of restriction, which are the famous 613 precepts. 248 of them help us connect to the light of the creator and 365 to avoid negativity.

The ten plagues made room for the Ten Utterances. To remove the negativity from its root, there had to be the ten steps as I described in a previous commentary http://rabbishimon.com/index.cfm/feature/32_2. Killing the first born was a must to achieve this goal and allow Z”A to be revealed in the world. The desire to receive without sharing can no longer exists without negative effect.

The Zohar helps us understand this principal. Rabbi Yossi (Zohar Bo #94), said that “the world could not exists but for the head (leaders) of the people. If the leaders are righteous, then the people benefit the good. If they are not then woe to the world and woe to the people”

“When David saw the angel who was striking down the people, he said to the LORD, \”I have sinned; I, the shepherd, have done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? Let your hand fall on me and my family.”

Leaders have the responsibility for their people. The head of the nation, the head of the community, the head of the family, Rabbis, teachers, every kind of leadership carries a responsibility to the group one leads even if it is a task team at work. I have a responsibility for what I write. Everything must be thought to have a positive effect. If I lead you away from the Light, I am responsible for it.

Don\’t get caught with the sins of your leaders.

Zion and Jerusalem – The promised land and the Final Redemption. Part 1

Exodus 6:8

\”And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning which I lifted up My hand to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for a heritage: I am the LORD;\”

Rashi, explains \”hand lifting\” is  God\’s act of swearing on his throne.

הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר נָשָׂאתִי אֶת-יָדִי,

הָאָרֶץ – this is the land of Israel, which is the \”middle point\” of the \”Big Bang\” (The act of creation).

אֲשֶׁר – is the concealed head like in Exodus

3:14 \”אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה\’,incorrectly translated to \”I AM THAT I AM\”. This is the supernal head where the seed and thought of creation originated.
נָשָׂא תִי – is the elevation and the ultimate connection, like in marriage, that God made between the supernal power and the material world below.

I inserted a space in the middle of the word so you can see the connection of the words. The letters תִי Tav is for Malchut and Yod, is for the elevation to the supernal head.

The Land of Israel is Unique in the world because it is like the power supplier for the whole world.

Zion and Jerusalem are the connection points. Zion is the upper (+) and Jerusalem is the lower (-). The Israelites are responsible to make the connection and keep the energy flowing down to the world.

Notice that I used the word Israelites and not Jewish people. The Israelites are all around the world. They feel their connection to the Creator deeper in their soul.

The Israelites are emissaries to spread the light of the land of Israel wherever they are. Read more on \”Who is a Jew?\”

The verse says \”God lift his hand\” to swear for the Land of Israel.

The word for swearing in Hebrew is \”שבועה\” that comes from the root word \”שבע\” plus the letters \”וה\”. The simple explanation is that swearing is connecting the Seven Sefirot of Zeir-Anpin, the letter Vav and Malchut, the letter He.

When God \”Lifted up his hand\” he made the connection of Zion and Jerusalem. Unfortunately our actions corrupted this connection and that caused the destruction of the Holy Temples and the lack of light in the world.

Swearing is a serious issue. A person should not swear if he doesn\’t involve the Light. The spiritual effect of that is a connection through the sefirot from Malchut up to Binah. If not followed through, the energy that is drawn for the swear turns negative and hurts the person, sooner or later.

The Land of Israel, especially Jerusalem, attracted many empires and nations in the past, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greek, the Romans, the Byzantine, the Crusaders, the Ottoman and others. None of them managed to have a complete and continuous hold on this land. They just couldn\’t connect to that high light and it brought them down.

Why did the sons of Ishmael want to have this land?

On the spiritual level, Ishmael considered himself as the first born to Abram NOT to Abraham. We know that God changed Abram\’s name to Abraham and by that the future changed.

Ishmael may have the right to claim first born rights from his real father, Abram but Since Abraham is a renewed soul, there is no base or power to this claim. The Holy Land promised to Abraham, not to Abram.

Ishmael\’s mother, Hagar, came with Sarah as a gift from Egypt. She was also used tool by Sarai to bring a child for her husband Abram. When Sarai named Sarah by God, there was a total spiritual separation between Hagar and Ishmael, Sarah and Abraham.

Shemot – The Genesis Code

וְאֵלֶּה, שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הַבָּאִים, מִצְרָיְמָה: אֵת יַעֲקֹב, אִישׁ וּבֵיתוֹ בָּאוּ
Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt with Jacob; every man came with his household

This week we start with \”שְׁמוֹת \”, Exodus, the second book of the five. This one is at the level of Chokmah, also described as \”אבא \”, \”Father\”.
What does it mean?
